About me

As the name suggests, 'Up For Air Counselling' was created for anyone (18+) who has reached a point where they need a change in their life. To think more clearly and feel lighter. This change may look different to different people, but fundamentally, a shift is needed - and that is what we work on together.

Whether it's an increase in anxious thoughts or low mood, overwhelm or too much 'noise' inside your head, we untangle your current difficulties. You don't need to know where they've come from, we can work on that together.

Sometimes we don't know what's causing the discomfort, and that's totally fine. Once we get talking, things often start making sense and feel clearer.

Many people feel nervous about contacting a counsellor. It can be an overwhelming task just choosing one to start with! And the truth is, you may need to chat to a couple of counsellors before you decide to make an appointment. So please feel free to call me for a totally no obligation chat, it's important you feel content and connected to whoever you choose.

Experience

My background is in HR and creative thinking, both of which have proved to be very helpful in the therapy room.

I am qualified to Level 5 as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and have the following qualifications:

Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory

Diploma in Hypnotherapy.

I also have Level 3 in Safeguarding and a further certification from Human Givens College in 'Trauma: Patterns of the Past'.

I am on an Accredited Register, accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society)

Specialisms

Having personally spent the last 16 years in the complicated world of Special Educational Needs, I have a deep understanding of how this impacts each family member. It's an isolating and very private place because it concerns you're very immediate loved ones but is something I can very much support with if it is impacting you and your family. I also volunteer with families with recent diagnoses through charity work.

I also have a strong interest in how childhood trauma and experiences can impact adult life whether that be from parental values and routines to abuse or school (including boarding school) trauma.

My Approach

I work with anyone aged 18 and over. My bright and airy therapy room has lots of natural daylight and is opposite Sunningdale train station with links directly into Reading and London. I also work online for those who prefer.

I am very open in my approach and warmly welcome you to have a chat so you can get to know my style. I am what's called an 'Integrative Counsellor' which just means I am not limited to one approach but use several theories to help you uncover whatever it is that is causing you discomfort.
